History

Incorporated in Tokyo, Japan in 1994, MHT Corporation emerged out of a freelance translation business operated by founder James Pach in the 1990s. Making its start as a translation agency specializing in Japanese-English translations, the business quickly developed a reputation for delivering quality translations across all language pairs to tight deadlines, and consequently enjoyed solid growth despite the difficult economic environment in Japan through the 1990s.

Always innovative, and recognizing that translation is often just one component of larger projects, MHT Corporation began in the mid 1990s to develop then-rare expertise in multilingual desktop publishing. We later added graphic design, pre-press and printing services to provide our clients with a convenient turnkey service. Starting in 2001, we added a team of Web developers to our language and design professionals, to assist clients seeking to localize or internationalize their Web presence, through such services as website development, translation and localization. We also developed our own unique Web applications, including Study-Now, our e-learning site for language learners, and more recently began work on ToTranslate (available soon), a groundbreaking Web service for translation clients.

MHT Corporation had over the years built formidable translation expertise in investor relations documents, and by 2006 it was a natural step to establish a specialist Investor Relations department dedicated to giving clients the cost, speed, and quality mix they need for effective disclosure. This department became the fastest growing area of the Company's business.

In the last few years, we have begun online publishing, acquiring The Diplomat (www.thediplomat.com) and turning it into a highly respected foreign affairs magazine specializing in the Asia-Pacific, and CSR Magazine (www.csr-magazine.com) which offers comprehensive coverage of issues in corporate social responsibility in Japan.

Now in its 3rd decade in business, MHT Corporation remains committed to pursuing its mission of providing information services that focus particularly on globalization and accountability. Specifically, we will continue to provide services that help our clients operate successfully and responsibly in the international marketplace.

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, James Pach came to Tokyo in 1989, initially working as an English teacher and freelance translator.
